Concert Review: OFWGKTA, March 20 Hammerstein Ballroom NYC

This was Earl’s first live show appearance since he’s been “freed” and it was pretty fucking wild, to say the least. This show was also on the day the OF Tape Vol. 2 dropped. So between the crowd going crazy for Earl and OF going crazy as usual (but more so today since Earl was back and they dropped the album) it was a pretty special night to be in Hammerstein. The set list included Rella, Sam (Is Dead), We Got Bitches, White (Frank Ocean was there too) and Oldie (!!!!!) from the new tape. Other than that was a lot of stuff from Goblin and Orange Juice, Drop and Earl which were pretty awesome to see performed live.
What I love the most about OF shows, though, is how similar they are to punk/hardcore shows. There’s always at least one pit open and people are always moving/crowd surfing-there’s something to be said for a rap group who is able to make people wanna mosh to their music. Overall the show was really fun and definitely memorable because of all the appearances. I also got to say hi to the vocalist of Trash Talk because he was walking around the venue trying to sell CD’s. A great show.
